Hannes

In this week's newsletter, we feature one of our students, Hannes:

Where are you from?

I come from Altenhagen 1, which is a nice village near Hanover, Germany.

How long have you been studying at the Hampstead School of English?

I've been studying at Hampstead School of English for one month. I've been living in London since 18th March 2006.

What do you do in your country?

I studied economics for one semester in Magdeburg but I quit and now I'm probably going to study a different subject at the beginning of the winter semester.

Why did you choose the Hampstead School of English?

I searched the internet for an English language school and the Hampstead School of English had the best recommendations and so I chose it.

Do you think your English has improved since you started studying at the Hampstead School of English?

I've been not such a long time here in England, but nevertheless I think that my English has improved, because I went up a level twelve and especially my speaking has become much better. Also, I have learned a lot of useful vocabulary.

Have you taken any exams at the school? Were you successful?

I'm taking courses for the TOEFL exam, but I haven't done the exam at the moment.

How will your improved level of English help you when you return home?

In most subjects I'd like to study, you have to read many English texts and hopefully it will be easier for me to understand difficult texts, when I come home. Furthermore in every big company you need to speak English and so it will be easier for me to get a job.

What would be your advice to a student who intends to come to London and Hampstead to study English?

First I would warn them about the English food, but then I would say to them that they had made a really good decision, because the teachers here are very nice and their English will surely improve. Besides I would recommend to them the social programme, because it is a very good way to get to know other people and to make friends. Finally I would teach them a few Asian words to impress the Asian girls/boys. ;)

FW: Australian Government Announcement

Subject: Australian Government Announcement

Dear Agents,

From the second quarter of 2008, international students will have the right to work in Australia on the basis of their primary visa application, rather than having to apply separately for permission to work. This is a great win for students and the international education industry as there will be less red tape for students.
